Sabudana Khichdi-Navratri Recipe

Navratri is always a very special fasting period. Not just because of the auspicious nature of these days but also because of the feelings involved, we thought to create a menu just apt for the occasion. Sabudana Khichdi (Sago cooked with potatoes) are the first in line.

Sabudana Khichdi-Navratri Recipe


  1. Peanuts
  2. Sago - soaked for over 3 hrs
  3. Boiled Potatoes
  4. Black Pepper
  5. Rock Salt - to taste
  6. Green Chilies
  7. Cooking Oil


  1. In a fry pan put some cooking oil and wait for it to heat a little
  2. Once its ready, add peanuts to it and fry till they are golden brown in color
  3. In the meantime, chop(fine or rough as per your choice) the Boiled Potatoes
  4. Once the peanuts are fried and crispy, add Green Chilies to it (omit this step if you want it less spicy)
  5. Fry a little and then add the chopped & Boiled Potatoes to the pan
  6. Time to add the hero of the dish, Sabudana (Sago) to the pan
  7. Now add Black Pepper and Rock Salt and mix properly
  8. Fry the mixture on sim heat for some time (Ideally till you see the pieces mixed well)
  9. After around 3-4 min you will have prepared yourself a nice n quick Sago (Sabudana Khichdi)
  10. Enjoy !!


Best served with Yogurt and (if you like it) some green chilies...
