What’ the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the Indian festivals? Not a tough one right. It’s obviously food!! No matter whether you are starting the year in January with Makar Sankranti or ending it with New Year celebrations, all you can think of in the name of festivals is the heavenly taste that our tongue is so used to during these days. Which is why it’s not a surprise that we bring to you the Top 5 Holi Food Recipes you would crave for this Holi.
The festival of colors instantly brings those preparations we would, as small kids, do with our friends to make sure no one was left without a bath in the colors. Dry colors, or Gulal as we know them; the water colors, that were tough to get off the skin; and what those balloons… they were all fun!!
Similar to the colors of Holi, are these colorful food items that are sure to make way to your dining or center
table this season of colors! So while the day of colors is nearly here, try them if you can ‘cause they are the best bet for your tasty buds 🙂
For sure the number one on our list. There is no Holi without a Gujiya. This item has been a very famous one on this day and seems to have been in my memory since forever. No seriously, you ask anyone and chances are they will put this on the number one spot in their list. So I bring to you the same item with a nutty chocolate twist that you will love this Holi. Enjoy Flavour Basket’ Holi Special Chocolate Loaded Gujiya!
Another item that you will see make the top list for this festival. So while Gujiya is sweet, Papdi makes its special place for the on the table. Compliments the chocolate Gujiya so well. The icing on the cake is that the recipe is very short n salty ;). So here it is, Flavour Basket’ Holi Special Papdi !!
Bets made with marijuana (Bhaang). But for today we will refrain from that ingredient. And instead present to you the (without bhaang) drink that will be the best company for the other items we already discussed. Thandai is again a quick one to make and in this weather probably will be more loved than the tea itself. Here is the Flavour Basket’ Thandai Recipe for Holi!
We skipped keeping any heavy item on the list after the top 3 that we mentioned here. Since they themselves will take up most of your tummy space; how about one that is tangy, spicy as well as something that just melts in the mouth. One of the very famous street chaat item on the Indian streets, here is the Holi Special Dahi Vada recipe from Flavour Basket’ kitchen.
Again, we didn’t want a heavy item to make its way on the table and probably be left alone after you have had the fantastic four already mentioned in our list. But we also wanted to have a sauce kind of item that will go with the others; specially the Dahi Vada and the Papdi. So while a pickle would be a nice idea for the Papdi, we will go with Khatti Mithi Amchoor Chutney to accompany these two items. Trust me, you won’t be able to keep your fingers dipping into it ;). Enjoy the Instant Khatti Mithi Chutney recipe from Flavour Basket!!
